How Punter Insight Works
The path from football data to a published, settled prediction.
1. Football data is collected
Punter Insight ingests match and team data for upcoming fixtures across 41 leagues: results, goals scored and conceded, home and away splits, recent form, expected goals (xG), corner counts and league position. This data is refreshed on a schedule so models run on current information.
2. Models analyse the fixtures
Several independent model families run over the fixture list. Different markets are handled by different models — the approach that suits Both Teams To Score is not the one that suits corners. Each produces a score or probability for the outcome it covers.
Models are versioned. When a model changes, the new version is recorded alongside the predictions it produced, so past results stay attributable to the model that actually made them.
3. Model output is compared with market context
A model probability on its own is not a selection. Punter Insight compares model output with the market prices available for that fixture. Where the two differ enough to be interesting, the selection becomes a candidate.
This is a disagreement, not a verdict. The market is a strong forecaster and is often right. Punter Insight does not claim a price is objectively wrong — only that its models see the game differently.
4. Predictions are published before kickoff
Selections are published before the match starts, with the price recorded at the time of publication. Nothing is added to the record after a result is known, and nothing is edited once published.
5. AI Traders act on the predictions
7 active AI Traders each apply their own fixed staking and selection behaviour to the same underlying predictions — one backs only its highest-confidence picks, another stakes flat across everything that qualifies, another builds accumulators. They exist to show how the same predictions perform under different, consistently applied approaches.
Traders are not removed from the record when they stop trading. 2 retired traders remain visible on the traders page with their full history.
6. Results are settled automatically
Once a match finishes, predictions are settled automatically against the final result. Winners and losers are both retained. See how we verify results for the exact settlement and calculation rules.
